Taking jobs & planning your own time

Once you accept a job it either already has a time or it doesn't yet. Those two behave differently, so this page separates them.

Two kinds of jobs

The owner dispatched it with the visit date and time window already on the job — that's how most scheduled jobs come.

You don't plan these. They land on your Schedule calendar by themselves as a purple block titled "For {store}". The button on the job is "📅 View schedule", which jumps to that day.

Some jobs genuinely arrive unscheduled:

  • Repair tickets — a repair ticket has no visit-date field at all. It runs remote diagnosis → diagnostic fee → quote → customer approval → repair → handover, and the intake is only Remote / Drop-off / Mail-in;
  • Cleaning jobs where the visit hasn't been agreed with the customer yet;
  • Anything where the customer just said "some day this week".

These can't go on the calendar — the calendar only draws jobs it can resolve a date for. They get pulled out into "📌 Jobs to schedule" for you to plan.

"📌 Jobs to schedule" → plan a slot for yourself

A card with a dashed purple border appears at the top of your Schedule page:

📌 Jobs to schedule ({n}) Jobs you took that have no time yet. Plan one and it lands on your calendar.

Tap "📅 Add to schedule" and a small dialog opens, titled "📅 Add to my schedule · {store}". It has exactly three fields:

Field Notes
Which day Required. Just pick a date
Start (optional) Fine to leave blank
End (optional) Fine to leave blank

Hit "Save". After that the button becomes "📅 Change plan" so you can revise it, and the dialog gains a red "Remove plan" that sends the job back to the unplanned list.

Once planned it sits on your calendar like any other job, and in list views it carries the suffix "(your plan)" — a reminder that you picked this time; it isn't agreed with anyone.

The important part: your plan is yours alone

This deserves its own section, because it's the thing people worry about most:

The time you pick never touches the owner's job

The dialog says so itself:

This job has no agreed time. Plan your own slot — it only shows on your schedule page and never changes the other store's job.

In other words you're planning your own work, not making an appointment. Put it on Wednesday afternoon and the customer gets no "booked for Wednesday" notification, and the owner's job is not modified.

So: to actually agree a time with the customer, talk to the owner — use "Chat with owner" on that job. Planning just keeps your own calendar honest so you don't double-book yourself.

Can the owner change the time you planned?

Not directly. There is no control on the owner's side that edits your planned slot — their candidate row doesn't even display which day you picked.

But one thing does override it:

Once the owner sets a time on the source job, theirs wins

There's exactly one rule for which time shows: if the source job has a time, that's used; only if it doesn't is your planned time used.

So when the owner later agrees a time with the customer and puts it on the source job, your calendar switches to their time, the "(your plan)" tag disappears, and the button changes from "📅 Change plan" to "📅 View schedule".

That isn't the owner overriding your plan — it's the job finally having a real time, so your placeholder steps aside.

Related: if the owner edits the source job (reschedules it, changes the address), an entry appears under "📝 Change log" at the bottom of the job, reading "Order details changed · …". When a time on your calendar looks wrong, check there first.

Finishing up: mark it done

When the work is finished, tap "✓ Mark done". What happens next depends on how the job was priced:

One confirmation: "Confirm this job is finished?" Tap OK and you're done. The amount was locked in when you accepted; there's nothing to fill in.

A dialog opens: "✓ Mark done · settle hours".

Enter how long this job actually took — pay settles on these hours. The owner can adjust them with you before paying out.

One field: "Actual hours", in half-hour steps, prefilled with the original estimate. As you change it, the final amount is recalculated on the spot as base + rate/hour × hours. The confirm button is "✓ Confirm done".

Hourly amounts carry a ≈ until you finish

The rule for hourly pay is: pay per helper = base + rate × hours. Quoted on the estimate; settled on actual hours at completion.

So before the job is done, the amount you see has a "≈" in front — that's an estimate based on the estimated hours. Enter your actual hours and mark it done, the "≈" disappears, and that figure is the settled one.

If you enter the wrong hours

It's still fixable before the owner pays. Once an hourly job is marked done but not yet marked paid, an "🕐 Adjust hours" field appears on the owner's side; they can enter new actual hours and the pay is recalculated.

That's what "the owner can adjust them with you before paying out" means — message them in that job's chat and ask them to fix it. You can't change it yourself after marking done.

Once the owner taps "Mark paid", the job is settled: your side flips from "Waiting for owner to settle" to "✓ Paid".

How your outside jobs look to other people

An owner can share their store's schedule as a link (to show customers free slots, or to show their helpers the plan). If you're a helper at that store, the jobs you took at other stores block out time on that shared schedule — but as time only, with nothing attached.

Those blocks look like this:

  • The title is always "🤝 Away job", in purple;
  • Date and time slot only — no customer name, no address, no other store's name, no amount;
  • Tapping one opens nothing; there are no details;
  • The public level and the helpers-only level are identical here — whoever opens that link sees nothing more than "this time is taken".

That protects both sides at once:

Why it works this way

  • For the other store: none of store A's customers, addresses or prices can leak onto store B's schedule — those fields simply aren't on it.
  • For you: nobody reads that gap as "free" and books a second job on top of you.

Note this wording only appears on a shared schedule. On your own Schedule page the same jobs show under the "Helping others" legend swatch.
